Smith and Condeni News
February 2007
The law firm of Smith and Condeni LLP, owners of Forest Park Center, the new 28,000 square foot office building being constructed at 600 East Granger Road, Brooklyn Heights, announced that it has leased space to Imagine Software. Headquartered in New York City, Imagine Software is a leading provider of real time portfolio and risk management for the financial services industry.
In addition to its New York office, Imagine has offices in London (England), Sydney (Australia), Bodrum (Turkey) and Hong Kong, as well as developers in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine). The new Cleveland office represents its first foray into near-shoring its support services.
"The members of our support staff are required to be problem-solvers, and a strong background in mathematics is essential. Our software is mission critical for the trading community and our users expect quick turnaround on their issues", said Dr. Lance Smith, CEO of Imagine. "We have had great success with off-shoring some of our operations, but we felt that it is important that client support should be in the same time zone as the client. As our sales continue to grow, our support staff will grow as well, and should someday be the largest department in our company. Accordingly it made sense to plan ahead for this eventuality. New York is very expensive and we are competing with the major Wall Street houses for the same people".
The new Cleveland office is initially being staffed with six new employees and Imagine anticipates growth to fifteen to twenty employees over the next twenty-four months. Dr. Smith, a 1970 graduate of North Olmsted High School, felt that his hometown would be a good place to house its domestic support staff. "I'm from Cleveland and I know that Ohio has many great universities and expected little difficulty finding qualified candidates. I have not been disappointed", said Dr. Smith. "I have been especially impressed by the excitement and enthusiasm of the candidates we have interviewed. The jobs we are providing in Cleveland are ones in which they get to actually use their mathematical training".
